This past Friday, January 10th, the latest Jobs Report came out ... and it was, by most measures, a fantastic report. But both the stock and the bond market did not digest it very well. Why?
This excellent report cast doubt on the number of rate cuts we are likely to get from the Federal Reserve.
Furthermore, so far, 2025 has not gotten off to a great start. While we are not making any predictions of a bear market, as active portfolio managers, we know that long-term downtrends must start with short-term downtrends.
And, right now, short-term downtrends are very very prevalent.
