With only a few trading days left in August, the S&P 500 has had a well above average month (as represented by the blue diamond on the first chart).
Conversely, the S&P Small Cap 600 has had a below average month. Neither the large nor the small cap indices typically have good Septembers, so it will be interesting to see what September 2024 brings.
That said, I like what I'm seeing on the breadth charts for the Russell 3000. That universe (which captures ~95% of the US stock market) has ~66% of its constituents trading above their 200 day moving averages (not shown). Furthermore, the Advance-Decline line (shown in chart 3) is holding at all-time highs.
Nvidia reports earnings tomorrow (Wednesday) after the close.
