Since May 1st, the traditional cap-weighted version of the S&P 500 has gone absolutely nowhere. However, underneath the surface, we do see some good news. But, given Friday's selloff and today's lack of convincing action, it sure seems like the broad market is waiting for the next shoe to drop.
In this month's video, we also look at an example of why we believe active management is important because both of these statements are true:
- At the end of January, Gold was up 25% year-to-date.
- At the end of October, Gold is negative 10% year-to-date.
Furthermore, the evidence suggests that inflation is going to be sticky and potentially rising even further. So, while history suggests that gold will perform well in such an environment, it sure isn't right now.
And that's why we believe it's important to follow the evidence of price.
